100 Names of God That Could Change The Way You See Him Forever…And Why This Might Be The Most Important Thing You Read Today!

The Bible Contains The Greatest Treasure Of All Hidden in Plain Sight!

I have discovered that the greatest purpose of the Bible is not just to tell us what to do or how to live. The greatest benefit of the Bible is that it declares who God says He really is, and who He says we really are to Him. (I will get to why this is arguably the most important thing in your life in just a moment.)

The Scriptures are 66 books of divine self-revelation! God is not shy! He loves to be discovered.

From Genesis to Revelation, every page, every prophecy, every promise is a window into the nature, character, and heart of God. The Bible is not primarily the story of mankind searching for God—it is the story of God revealing Himself to us in a greater way than we could ever imagine.

And yet the Bible also tells us:

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”
— Proverbs 25:2

Here’s the amazing thing: People normally conceal the unflattering, negative things about themselves that they don’t want others to know about them…But what God conceals about Himself in His Word are the greater things, the “gooder” things, the more glorious and generous things about His nature and His plans for you and I to discover. He hides them, not from us, but for us, as treasures for sons and daughters to discover.

One of the greatest treasure troves of revealing who God really is in all of Scripture is found in the names of God. The names of God reveal the character of God. These are the names and titles God uses to describe Himself—names like Shepherd, Redeemer, Healer, Rock, Father, Savior, Prince of Peace, Good Shepherd, Guardian of your souls, and so many more.

When God revealed His Name to Moses the second time on the mountain, after Israel had rebelled and worshiped the golden calf, He could have led with judgment. Instead, He led with mercy:

“I am Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.”
— Exodus 34:6 (NLT)

Every name of God is an invitation—to know Him more personally, to worship Him more intimately, and to trust Him more completely. There are well over 300 self revealing names of God in scripture.

Let’s walk together through 100 of the most powerful names of God in Scripture50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament. I pray that the Holy Spirit will use these names to build your faith renew your mind, heal your view of God, and deepen your confidence in His heart toward you. Here we go!

Conclusion: Let the Names of God Renew What You Believe About Him!

My prayer is that as you’ve walked through these 100 names and titles of God—50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament—something powerful has begun to happen in your heart.

I believe that the most important thing in your life and mine is what you believe about God… and what you believe God believes about you.

Why? Because what you believe about God will either attract you to Him or repel you from Him.

Satan’s job is to lie, accuse and deceive in order to get you to believe something about God (and about yourself) that is not true—something that makes you want to pull away, hide, or stay at a distance.

But here’s what I’ve discovered: the voice that pushes you away from God is never the voice of God!

That is why the greatest investment you can make in your life is exactly what we’ve been doing together here—spending time in the Word of God, letting Scripture correct your view of God, and establishing the voice of God as the greatest, loudest, most trusted voice in your life.

If this list of the names of God was a blessing to you, I would love to hear from you.

If you are not subscribed (it’s free) be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss future posts. My heart is to keep sharing encouraging, faith-building content from the Word of God that helps you know Him more, trust Him more, and walk more confidently in who you are in Christ.

Remember: behind every name of God is a heart of love reaching out to you. My prayer is that His names speak louder than your fears, your past, or the lies of the enemy. He truly is your Shepherd. He is your Guardian. He is your Savior, your Redeemer, your Father, your King—and He delights in you discovering Him through His word! It’s my joy to share that journey with you! Blessings, Greg!
