10 Things God Promises to Reward You For!

God is not looking for reasons to rebuke you…He is looking for reasons to reward you!

There are two things that Hebrews 11:6 makes clear if we want to please God:

  1. We must believe that God is—that He exists. (Even the devil believes that much.)
  2. We must also believe that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Salvation is a gift—we can never earn it (Ephesians 2:8–9). But Scripture also shows us that beyond the gift of salvation, there are rewards that God promises to those who love Him, serve Him, and live faithfully. Many of those rewards are waiting for us just on the other side of convenience—when we choose obedience, sacrifice, and faith instead of what is easy.

There is nothing we are required to do to receive the gift of salvation, but there are things we can do to step into the rewards of the kingdom. We are not under a fear of punishment but we are under a reward challenge!

We can’t earn God’s love but we can qualify for His special rewards here on earth and in eternity… From cover to cover the Bible reveals God as a Rewarder:

“I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” (Genesis 15:1, NLT)

“Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.” (Revelation 22:12, NLT)

Scripture begins and ends with God as Rewarder. So what does He reward? Here are 10 things the Bible promises God will reward you for:

1. Diligently Seeking Him

“He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6, NLT)
God rewards the pursuit of His presence. Extra time in prayer, worship, and His Word is never wasted…and always rewarded.

2. Faithfulness in Service

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord… the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward.” (Colossians 3:23–24, NLT)

When you serve—even in hidden ways—God notices and rewards.

3. Persevering Through Trials

“God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life.” (James 1:12, NLT)

Every hardship endured with faith stores up eternal reward.

4. Generosity and Secret Giving

“Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:4, NLT)

Every act of generosity done for God’s glory is remembered and rewarded by Him.

5. Prayer and Fasting in Secret

“When you pray… go away by yourself… Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6, NLT)
“When you fast… your Father, who knows what you do in private, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:18, NLT)

God rewards prayer and fasting that comes from a pure heart.

6. Enduring Persecution

“Be happy… when people mock you and persecute you… For a great reward awaits you in heaven.” (Matthew 5:11–12, NLT)

Heaven celebrates every time you suffer for Jesus’ name.

7. Building Wisely on Christ’s Foundation

“If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.” (1 Corinthians 3:14, NLT)

What we build for Christ—our works, ministries, and investments in His Kingdom—will be tested and rewarded.

8. Winning Souls

“What gives us hope and joy, and what will be our proud reward and crown…? It is you!” (1 Thessalonians 2:19, NLT)

Those you lead to Christ are part of your eternal reward.

9. Faithful Leadership

“When the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.” (1 Peter 5:4, NLT)

Those who shepherd and lead faithfully will receive a unique reward from Jesus Himself.

10. Loving His Appearing

“The prize is… for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:8, NLT)

Longing for Christ’s return and living in readiness is rewarded with the crown of righteousness.

Closing Thought

From Genesis to Revelation, God reveals Himself as our reward. He doesn’t just give rewards—He is our reward and He is our rewarder here on earth and in eternity. The greatest joy of heaven will be seeing Jesus face-to-face, but He has also promised specific crowns and blessings for those who walk faithfully with Him.

When you give, pray, fast, win souls, seek God diligently, endure trials, lead faithfully, or long for His return—remember this: your Father sees everything and He is your rewarder!
