Are You Living Under a Canceled Covenant?

The New Covenant is not a continuation or upgrade of the Old—it is God’s better, unbreakable replacement. Jesus Himself taught that you don’t sew a new patch on an old garment or pour new wine into old wineskins:

“No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” (Matthew 9:16–17, NKJV)

Scripture is explicit:

“In that He says, ‘A new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.” (Hebrews 8:13, NKJV)

“He takes away the first that He may establish the second.” (Hebrews 10:9, NKJV)

Are You Drinking from a Mixed Cup?

Much current day preaching serves a blended message—mixing law and grace in the same glass. It sounds like, “God is for you… but He can also be against you.” That mixture breeds confusion and condemnation. But we do not serve a schizophrenic God. In Christ, God is 100% for you:

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31, NKJV)

Weak and insecure leaders often rule by fear, confusion, and condemnation, keeping people small and unsure of themselves.

But strong and secure leaders lead in a completely different way—through empowerment, encouragement, and by speaking to the greatness of what you can become.

And there is no stronger, greater leader in all the world than Jesus Christ, who not only calls us as we are but lifts us into the fullness of who He created us to be.

Why This Matters: Covenant Defines the Relationship

A covenant establishes the terms of relationship between God and man. Correctly understanding the basis of your relationship with God is arguably the most important thing in your life.

The Old said, “Show Me what you’ve got.” The New says, “Let Me show you what I’ve got!”

The Woman Caught Between Two Covenants

Few moments in Scripture display this shift like the woman caught in adultery.

“As Jesus was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in the act of adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”

When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.

Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” ———-”

Jesus silenced every accuser until it was just her and Jesus. He is the Lord who came to remove every accusation from your life! That’s the New Covenant: it unclutters your life from accusation and centers you on Christ. Grace is not a license to sin; grace is a license to win:

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.” (Titus 2:11–12, NKJV)

The Covenant of Condemnation vs. the Covenant of Life

“But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.” (2 Corinthians 3:7–9, NKJV)

The Bible calls the Old Covenant the ministry of death, the ministry of condemnation. The much better replacement New Covenant is called the ministry of the Spirit, a ministry of righteousness.

Paul and the Galatians: Fighting for Pure Grace

The Apostle Paul battled this issue constantly. His fiercest words were not aimed at sinners but at religious teachers who tried to add pressure and law to grace. They were “mixologists” of the gospel, watering down the finished work of Christ with requirements God never gave.

“O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:1–3, NKJV)

Paul wasn’t attacking people who were trying to make the Christian life “too easy.” He was defending believers from those who were trying to make it too hard, by downgrading the price Jesus paid in full.

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1, NKJV)

The New Covenant Takes the Pressure Off!

Under the law, the pressure was on you. Under grace, the pressure rests on Christ:

• “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17, NKJV)
• “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).” (Galatians 3:13, NKJV)
• “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NKJV)

As Dr. Morris Cerullo said: “God is not depending on what you possess, but on what He can make of you.”

A Covenant That Cannot Be Broken

“…because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.” (Hebrews 8:9, NKJV)

The Old failed because it depended on man’s faithfulness. The New rests on God’s.

• “By so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant.” (Hebrews 7:22, NKJV)
• “And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” (Hebrews 9:15, NKJV)
• “To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” (Hebrews 12:24, NKJV)

Jesus Came To Change The Lens Through Which You See God – From The God Who Is Against You To The God Who Is 100% For You!

“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

There Are Two Voices Over Your Life: The Voice Of The Accuser And The Much Greater Voice Of The Intercessor…Jesus Is Praying For You!

Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us?

No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, making intercession (pleading ) for us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Through the New Covenant, God is revealed as 100% for you! Jesus opened a “new and living way” by His blood:

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.” (Hebrews 10:19–20, NKJV)

So Are You Living Under a Canceled Covenant?

When you invite Christ into your life, He becomes both the author and the finisher of your faith. He is not depending on anything that you possess! He is depending on what you will let him make of you. He will finish the good work He has started in your life! it is Christ from start to finish!

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

He gives you the want to and he gives you the how to!

Stop drinking a mixed cup. Let the voice of the accuser fall silent until it’s just you and Jesus—and you hear Him say, “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more!”

Why not lift your hands today wherever you are and thank God for the power of the precious blood of Jesus—blood that not only forgives but cleanses from all unrighteousness:

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:7,9, NKJV)

God does not want to have a conversation with you about your past; He would much rather have a conversation with you about your future:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV)

And it all begins at the doorway of the New Covenant—the new and living way Christ opened for you! (Hebrews 10:19–20).

“Now thanks be to God for His Gift, [precious] beyond telling [His indescribable, inexpressible, free Gift]!”
