R.I.P. Is Not a Guarantee — But Peace With God Can Be!

“Rest in peace.”
We say it so often when someone passes. It’s comforting. It’s respectful. But the truth is… not everyone who dies is actually resting in peace.

That may sound blunt — but if you saw someone driving toward a cliff, wouldn’t you warn them? That’s how I feel about this message.

I grew up in church but I didn’t really have daily peace with God. No more than growing up in a garage would have made me a car.

There’s a powerful verse in the Bible where Jesus says:

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
Revelation 3:20 (NLT)

That’s what happened to me. And it can happen for anyone that is reading these words right now…especially you!

Peace with God isn’t automatic — but it is available.

God’s not looking for perfection — He’s looking for honesty. A heart that will say, “God, I need You.” That’s the starting point. Jesus said:

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”
Matthew 5:3 (NLT)

That’s the first Beatitude. And it’s still true today.

If you’re ready for peace with God — not just wishful thinking, but true confidence — here are three simple steps:

3 Simple Steps to Peace With God

  • Acknowledge your need.
We’ve all fallen short. Sin separates us from God — but Jesus came to bridge that gap and restore us. Three simple words can open the door to your new season…”I need You!”
  • Believe in Jesus.
He’s not just a good teacher. He’s the Son of God who cares so deeply for you that He died for your sins and rose again so you could live with Him forever.
  • Open the door.
Jesus is knocking. He won’t force His way in. But if you turn toward Him, open your heart, talk to Him, He promises to come in.

Eternity is long. Life is shorter than you think. But the peace of God is available — right here, right now.

A Simple Prayer You Can Pray:

“Jesus, I need You. I’ve sinned, and I can’t fix myself. I believe You died for me and rose again. Come into my life. Forgive me. Fill me with Your peace. I open the door and invite You in. From this day on, I want to follow You. Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, you can now live with peace — not just for this life, but for eternity. The Bible says:

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13 (NLT)

Now that’s something to rest in.
