Have You Ever Wondered If You’ve Missed It?
Have you ever looked back and wondered—did I miss God’s plan for my life? Maybe you made a decision you wish you could undo. Maybe life hasn’t gone the way you imagined. The truth is, every one of us has wrestled with the question: “Did I somehow step outside of what God had planned for me?”
But what if the God who spoke the universe into being is not surprised by your detours, delays, or disappointments? What if His plan is so sovereign that even your wrong turns are still part of His right path? The Bible says, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to act in order to fulfil His good purpose.” — Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
If you are reading this today, it’s proof that you care about God’s will for your life—and that desire is evidence that God is already working in you. You are exactly the kind of person He can trust to bring His plan to pass. You haven’t missed His will; you’re in the **middle** of His work.
“My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.” — Isaiah 46:10 (NLT)
“I know that You can do all things; no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.” — Job 42:2 (NLT)
“The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all.” — Psalm 103:19 (NLT)
God’s Plan Is Bigger Than Your Mistakes
God’s plan for your life is not fragile. You are not powerful enough to derail the purpose of an almighty God. Peter denied Jesus, Jonah ran from God, Joseph was betrayed by his own brothers—and yet in every case, God’s plan prevailed. Even when it looks like you’ve failed, Heaven is still writing your story.
Dr. Morris Cerullo said, “God is not depending on anything you possess—He’s depending on what He can make of you.” God doesn’t start something in you and then leave you to finish it on your own. By His mercy and grace, He continues to strengthen and reshape you until His purpose is fulfilled.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28 (NLT)
“What the enemy meant for evil, God meant for good.” — Genesis 50:20 (NLT)
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.” — Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
“Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” — Psalm 37:24 (NLT)
You can run, but you can’t outrun His mercy. When you turn back to Him, you’ll always find that He’s already been working ahead of you. The Bible says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” — Proverbs 18:10 (NLT)
God’s Perfect Will and His Permissive Will
God’s sovereignty doesn’t mean He forces you to obey Him. He gives you a will, yet even when you wander, He’s still working in you to will and to do of His good pleasure.
Israel wandered forty years in the wilderness—delayed, but not denied. Your delay doesn’t cancel your destiny. Sometimes the long way around is the route that prepares your heart for the promise.
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” — Proverbs 19:21 (NLT)
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” — Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)
“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations.” — Psalm 33:11 (NLT)
You may take the long way around, but God is still working all things together for your good and for His ultimate glory.
God Redeems Every Detour
When you miss a turn on your GPS, it doesn’t say “You’ve failed”—it simply says, “Recalculating.” God does the same. His grace recalculates your route to get you back where He always intended you to be. He’s not finished until you reach the destination He designed for you.
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” — Psalm 37:23 (NLT)
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me.” — Psalm 23:4 (NLT)
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.” — Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)
“He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” — Psalm 23:3 (NLT)
Every setback becomes a setup for your comeback for His glory. Like Joseph, every dream has a test and every dream has a time. Now is your time! “Until the time came to fulfil his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.” — Psalm 105:19 (NLT)
Be Encouraged: God’s Plan Was Written Before You Were Born!
Long before you ever took your first breath, God had already written every page of your story. You’re not an accident—you’re an assignment. The will of God is never a straight line, but it is always sovereign and sure.
“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” — Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart.” — Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT)
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” — Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
“He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.” — Ephesians 1:4 (NLT)
God didn’t start planning your life when you got serious about Him—He planned it before the world began. The moment you gave your heart to Christ, His plan in you began to awaken and unfold. He is both the Author and the Finisher of your faith.
How to Stay in Step With God’s Plan Today
God’s plan isn’t found by striving—it unfolds through relationship. The key is staying connected – staying engaged with Him. When you fall, get back up quickly and reconnect. Don’t let shame or failure disconnect you from God’s presence; His mercy invites you to return. Here are some ways to feed your future:
- Seek His Will Daily: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” — Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
- Stay in Scripture Daily: “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
- Yield To The Holy Spirit: “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” — Romans 8:14 (NLT)
- Be Faithful In The Little Things: “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.” — Luke 16:10 (NLT)
- Keep Your Eyes On Jesus: “Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus.” — Hebrews 12:1-2 (NLT)
When you stay engaged with God’s Word, His Spirit will lead you in peace, provision, and divine alignment. The people who miss God’s plan are often those who simply don’t want it. But because you’re reading this, because your heart longs for Him, you can be confident that He is already aligning your life with His purpose.
You Can’t Miss God’s Plan When You Trust God’s Heart
At the end of the day, God’s plan for your life isn’t about perfection—it’s about relationship. He doesn’t want your performance; He wants your partnership. When you walk with Him, you can rest knowing that His purpose will be fulfilled.
“The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever.” — Psalm 138:8 (NLT)
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
“The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” — Romans 11:29 (NLT)
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord—plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)
“For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be glory forever.” — Romans 11:36 (NLT)
You can’t miss what God has already written—and He never wastes what you’ve been through. Be encouraged today: your promotion is in motion. God is working in you, orchestrating all things for your good and His glory.
A Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You that Your plan for my life is good, intentional, and unstoppable. Even when I’ve taken wrong turns, You’ve never taken Your eyes off me. Help me to trust You more deeply today and walk confidently in the path You’ve prepared for me. Thank You for working in me to will and to do Your good pleasure. Amen.
